World War II led to the acceptance of racial equality and gender equality. Many different minorities helped fight along with other Americans. Because of this, they gained respect.
Some prisoners of war chose to stay in the United States. This was because they thought there were more opportunities to live a better life.
While the war was happening it gave women new opportunities. During World War II, women were given the opportunity to work due to the men, who went off to go fight in the war. Some women even became nurses to do their part in the war efforts.
Cons
Many prisoners of war were never returned back to their home country, and unfortunately, they were separated from their families.
Many people, both civilians and soldiers, were killed, tortured, and captured.
Even after fighting together in World War II, African Americans and white Americans still were not considered equality to each other.
Although women technically helped with the winning of the war (by taking over men's jobs as the men went off to fight the war) they also were not considered as equals (compared to the men).
